• Coal is mainly transported by train within Australia. However, if the coal is going overseas it  is transported by barge. 

 

• Coal can be found throughout Australia but it  is predominantly mined in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.

 

• 54% of coal mined is exported to other countries such as East Asia.

 

• There are currently 36 coal mines in Australia.
